Workshops & Classes


	iJoin us at the wonderful new workshop room at Stringbead! for these classes on Sunday and Monday, May 4th and 5th! Contact the store for more details and signups! Stringbead The Almond Orchard Shopping Center 2201 Pillsbury Rd. Chico, CA 95926 phone: 530-894-2323 Rainforest Frog focal bead (or mini wall piece) This class will make you hoppy! We'll create a little rainforest frog in any color you like, sitting on some jungle leaves. This will be a perfect little focal bead for a necklace project, or can be used as a mini wall piece. The class will emphasize creativity, composition, adding beaded embellishment and of course fun, fun, fun! All skill levels are welcome from beginners to seasoned pros. Swelligent Sea Turtle focal bead or sculpture This class is my favorite! Sea turtles are addictive to make, so don't be surprised to find you just don't want to stop! This workshop is great for anyone just beginning in sculpture - instant gratification! Embellishing the shell with beads, glass and other items is creatively challenging - in a good way! All skill levels welcome (even if you are a seasoned pro you'll find this a great class to learn new texturing skills, color mixing and surface treatments). A Garden of Brooches art jewelry pins In this class we will create multiple leaf, flower and freeform designs that will combine to create art jewelry pins (or pendants, if you prefer). Emphasis will be on composition, creativity and design and we will explore the use of foils, powders and dimensional techniques as well. Once you've created one, you'll find you have more in mind for the next ones! All skill levels are welcome. Just a Little Fantasy sculptural vessel Oh, this one's fun! This class is all about creating your own little fantasy world. We will cover a glass container and create hills, trees, even the ruins of a forgotten castle. And of course, a fantasy creature to inhabit the world (a gargoyle? a unicorn? who knows! we'll see….) Emphasis is on creativity, but you will also learn how to wrap a glass vessel, and make stones, moss, trees and grasses. All skill levels are welcome.

	Begins August 27th and continues through the month ONLINE CLASS "Beautiful Bouquet" Floral Sculpture In this online class, you will go through the entire process of mixing colors, working out the composition, sculpting and then assembling this art jewelry piece. Of course, if you prefer to use the floral details on a mirror, vessel or wall piece instead of jewelry, that will be covered too! 	When: Friday, Sept. 19th , Sat. Sept.20th , & Sun. Sept. 21st, 2008 Where: Studio of Darleen Bellan of DarBella Designs (kissmystamp) Friday 5 -9pm The evening begins with a pot luck Meet, greet, eat, and clay. The project will be an elaborate Art Noveau style mirror enhanced with swirls and Swarovski crystals and then crowned with a beautiful Peacock that may be taken off the mirror to be worn as pin or pendant. Saturday 10am-4pm We will begin the day by finishing up our mirrors then move on to the plans for designing our Layered Beaded Necklace. We will start by choosing from the selected options of focal designs. Christi will teach each student the ins- and-outs of sculpting the focals and correct accent beads for our wearable art pieces. We will then plan out our design with layout drawings for beading and assembling. Sunday: 10am-4pm Our focals and accents beads will be ready to join forces with the other beads and crystals to come to a completed masterpiece! Christi will explain how to best emphasise the focals we made the previous day, so that the combinations of all elements together will be a striking tribute to you hidden talents! Shhhhh! I hear that if we complete before shcedule today, there is a bonus project she will show us! Early registration is highly reccommended as these workshops fill up fast. Seating is limited. 	begins March 25 ONLINE CLASS "Hello Sunshine" polymer clay sunflower In this project, we’re going to create a fun little sunflower and leaf cluster that will be just the thing to decorate the rim of a round gourd (or a vessel or mirror).
